Comparing yourself to others can happen before you’ve even finished your morning coffee.
You open LinkedIn to check your messages and see someone announcing a new client. You scroll a little farther and someone is celebrating a sold-out event. Another entrepreneur is launching a new program, speaking on stage, or sharing exciting business news.
Before you know it, the excitement you had for your own business starts to fade.
I’ve been there too, numerous times!
The truth is, comparison has a way of making us forget how far we’ve already come. Instead of celebrating our own progress, we begin measuring it against someone else’s journey. That’s a difficult comparison to make because we rarely know the whole story.

We Only See Part of the Picture
Social media gives us a glimpse into someone’s life or business.
A highlight, a milestone, a celebration.
What we don’t usually see are the late nights, the failed ideas, the quiet moments of self-doubt, or the years of work that happened before that one successful post.
It’s easy to assume someone else has it all figured out because that’s the part we see.
But every entrepreneur has challenges. Every entrepreneur has setbacks. Every entrepreneur has days when they wonder if they’re doing enough 🤔
Your Journey Doesn’t Need to Look Like Anyone Else’s
One of the things I’ve learned through running my business is that growth isn’t always loud.
Sometimes growth looks like having the confidence to say no. I’ve gotten much better in saying that word in both my personal and professional life.
Sometimes it’s raising your prices. Sometimes it’s finally updating your LinkedIn profile after putting it off for months. Sometimes it’s simply showing up on a day when you didn’t feel like anyone was paying attention.
Those moments deserve to be celebrated, too 🥳
What This Looks Like on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is full of incredible people doing amazing things.
I love celebrating their wins!
But I’ve also learned that someone else’s success doesn’t take away from mine.
The same is true for you. 😘
Instead of looking at someone’s post and wondering why you’re behind, try asking yourself what you can learn from it.
Maybe it inspires you to try something new, or reminds you to celebrate your own progress, or encourages you to keep going.
That thinking changes comparison into inspiration!
Keep Looking Forward
The only business you need to compare yourself to is the one you had yesterday.
Are you learning? Are you growing? Are you showing up more confidently than you did six months ago?
Those are the questions that matter.
Your journey was never meant to look exactly like someone else’s.
It was always meant to look like yours.
One Small Step You Can Take Today
The next time you catch yourself comparing your business to someone else’s, pause for a moment.
Instead of focusing on what they have accomplished, write down three things you’ve achieved over the past year.
They don’t have to be big.
Maybe you started your business, spoke at an event, helped one client.
Progress is still progress!
Give yourself permission to celebrate it 🎉
❤️ A Little Encouragement Before You Go….
Someone else’s success doesn’t make your dreams any less possible. Your journey is unfolding at exactly the pace it’s meant to, and every small step is helping you become the business owner you’re meant to be. Keep your eyes on your own path, celebrate your progress, and remember that your story is still being written. There is so much more ahead of you!
