Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I’ll do it when I’m ready”? I know I have!
If so, you’re not alone. Business confidence is something many women entrepreneurs struggle with, especially when it comes to putting themselves and their business out there.
Maybe it’s updating your LinkedIn profile. Maybe it’s posting more consistently. Maybe it’s launching a new service, raising your prices, or reaching out to someone you’ve been hoping to connect with.
Whatever it is, “ready” has a funny way of staying just out of our reach.
I think we’ve all been there!
We put so much pressure on ourselves to get everything just right before we take the next step. We tell ourselves that once we know a little more, have a little more experience, or feel a little more confident, then we’ll be ready.
But what if waiting is actually what’s holding us back?

Perfection Isn’t the Goal
One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that confidence rarely comes before action. Our confidence grows because we took the first step even when we felt uncertain.
Think about the last time you tried something new. Chances are you didn’t feel completely ready. You learned as you went, adjusted along the way, and became more confident with each step.
Business works the same way. If we wait until everything feels perfect, we may end up waiting much longer than we need to.
Women Often Underestimate What They Already Know
I’ve worked with so many incredible women who have years of experience, valuable knowledge, and a genuine desire to help others. Yet when it comes to talking about themselves or their business, they suddenly question everything.
They wonder if they’re qualified enough, if anyone will care what they have to say, if someone else has already said it better.
The truth is, someone probably has talked about the same topic before. But they haven’t shared it from your perspective.
Your experiences, your personality, and your way of explaining things are what make your message unique.
That’s something no one else can duplicate!
Ready Is a Moving Target
Have you noticed that every time you reach one goal, another one appears?
You finish your website, but now you think you need professional photos.
You get new photos, but now you think your LinkedIn profile needs work.
You update your profile, but now you think you should create more content before anyone sees it.
There will always be something else you could improve.
If you keep waiting until everything is finished, you may never give yourself permission to be seen.
What This Looks Like on LinkedIn
I see it all the time….Someone has an incredible business, years of experience, and a heart for helping others, but their LinkedIn profile still reflects who they were five years ago. Or they haven’t posted in months because they’re waiting for the perfect idea.
Meanwhile, the people they’re meant to help have no idea they exist.
Your next client isn’t looking for someone who’s perfect. They’re looking for someone they trust.
That trust begins when you show up!
Maybe that’s updating your headline so it reflects what you do today, maybe it’s refreshing your About section so it sounds like you, OR maybe it’s writing one simple post that shares something you’ve learned this week.
None of those things have to be perfect, they just have to be real.
One Small Step Is Enough
You don’t have to overhaul your entire online presence today.
Instead, ask yourself one question….What have I been putting off because I don’t feel ready?
Then choose one small step.
Update one sentence on your profile, write one post, reach out to one new connection.
Celebrate that progress, and then keep going.
Small steps have a way of turning into big changes over time.
